Sorry to all the prospective readers but I wrote this in agitation so
my ideas are all jumbled. I just sorta dumped it all at once! But as I post
more, you’ll understand more.
So, we’re
used to the trend of Nigerians being irritated by you or angry at you for
speaking the truth. It’s actually a pretty natural phenomenon. For some strange
unknown reason {or maybe it’s known but I have no idea about it}, Africans just
don’t like facing the hard truths and reality of things. You know this because
you have had a few experiences. But there’s a big difference between avoiding
truths and being willfully ignorant of that big green, white and green dick
being shoved up your asses! We believe in the dream of the future of Nigeria.
Well, it’s called the Nigerian dream because you have to be asleep to believe
that pile of shitload! Every adult around us is involved in ancestral cycle of
deeply rooted ignorance. They’re all totally misled by teachings they’ve had
since they were little. See, it’s easier to educate an illiterate than to
re-teach the mis-educated. Now I’m not talking about education in the literal
sense of the word. We have heard it said more than enough times that it is
madness to do a thing the same way and expect a different result, yeah? What’s
that thing we are doing differently to expect a different result? We preach
consistency and rigidity, yet, we expect to get different results?! I think,
being consistent and adamant to change requires you to be as ignorant today as you
were yesterday. Science tells us that we can always see our nose… our brain
just decides to ignore it. Could this be the same case with the problems
plaguing us?! That something is true today doesn’t mean it will be true
forever! The ‘elders’ of this land don’t seem to realize that! They base their
opinions and decisions on the things they heard or experienced from childhood.
Really there’s no shame
in ignorance. We are not born with pre-ordained knowledge! But we have been
given the ability to attain such knowledge. The world is dynamic… we are
supposed to move along with the age we find ourselves in. Why are we so bent on
remaining retarded? When we set out on a journey and we already know what we
want to learn, we don’t learn anything new. What we learn is what others have
learnt before us. “I want to learn to make a plane. I’ll make a lot of planes.”
That’s not new! Aren’t you curious to discover the possibilities out there in
the world?! I always say, the person who first used the saying ‘Ignorance is
bliss’ to defend his obliviousness of knowledge, must have died a very horrible
death… with a surprised look on his face!
You always hear,
‘Experience is the best teacher’. Well, different teachers are trained to suit
different students. Experience is the best for those who just like getting hurt
and love the oblivious abyss they are in. However, the truly smart learn from
the teacher called HISTORY. I think of experience as history repeated… so why
waste time and suffer experience. The problem is the ignorant ones are the
cocky, adamant and sure… the truly intelligent are full of doubt! Please make
the change… and don’t just do that. Educate and banish ignorance from our
existence!!!
